About Arts Smarts
What is Arts Smarts?
Arts Smarts is our weekly summer camp program offering two weeks of unique camps in Music, Theatre, Dance, and Visual Arts.
Where and when does it take place?
Arts Smarts takes place each summer at the Ware Center in Lancaster, PA.
What ages can attend?
Arts Smarts camps are designed for children in two grade-level ranges:
- Rising Kindergarten–Grade 2
- Rising Grades 3–5
How many camp sessions are there?
There are morning and afternoon camp sessions for both grade-level ranges in all four disciplines: Music, Theatre, Dance, and Visual Arts.
Each camp is completely unique, totaling 32 unique camp sessions in two weeks!
Are the camps accessible?
Yes! Camps are open to children of all abilities.
What time is each session?
Morning sessions run from 9 AM–12 PM, and afternoon sessions run from 1–4 PM. Campers may register for mornings, afternoons, or both.
Both mornings and afternoons feature a “common hour” when all campers join together for a large-group creative, multidisciplinary activity.
For campers staying all day, there is a supervised lunch period. Lunches must be brought to camp and will be refrigerated. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided.
Drop-off and pick-up at the Ware Center is supervised by staff.
Is there a showcase at the end of camp?
Yes! On Fridays of both weeks, there are morning and afternoon performance showcases and art exhibits for families and friends, featuring the campers’ work from each week.
Who teaches the camps?
The staff is comprised of a team of professional teaching artists and Millersville University Arts Education students who have full clearances to work with children.
How much does it cost?
Camps are $125 for a half-day session, per week, per child.
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes! We offer full and partial scholarships.
