Humanity at War
Leesha Epler
LYET LOBBY | From 2009 to 2010, Epler spent time in Iraq while serving with the U.S. Army. “I was inspired to capture the energy of the Iraqi people while they kept up their day-to-day lives amongst war,” says Epler. “As a woman and mother, I felt especially connected to the women and children there. I lived in their communities and saw firsthand the impact of our presence on their world. It has always been important to me to bridge the gap between humans, to find similarities in our pain and in our peace. This body of work serves as a reminder that at any time we could have to live surrounded by chaos, but we can always find a way to connect or even help each other.”
On display June 3-12
