ExtraGive Jr. Family-Friendly Party!

It’s the most “Extra”-ordinary time of the year! Mark your calendars for Extra Give Jr., a free family-friendly party at the Ware Center on November 17 from 5-8 P.M.!

Why should adults have all the fun on Extra Give night? Help us celebrate the annual Extraordinary Give one-day online donation drive with a fun event designed for kids of all ages! Our young guests will get to experience a variety of free entertainment and creative table activities developed just for them by six community benefit organizations – Advoz, Ambassadors For Hope, Imani Edu-tainers, Music For Everyone, The People’s Shakespeare Project, and Millersville’s own Art For All (family and children’s programming from the Office of Visual & Performing Arts).

Along with the fun, children will get to GIVE themselves and learn about philanthropy –  the first step in building an empowered and engaged community for the future – and leave with goodies and prizes! Of course, accompanying parents and guardians are also welcome to give to any of the participating organizations at giving stations located in the Ware Center lobby.

Thank you for including Art for All in your giving plans! Click here to visit our ExtraGive organization page and donate.

Matty Geez Summertime Sharpness.

Opening Reception | 6-8 P.M.
Friday, July 7, 2023

Regitz Gallery | Ware Center
On display July 7 through 28

Working in the realm of sculpture, Matty Geez’s pieces are three dimensional but maintain a kinship to two-dimensional works. His sculptures verge on the edge of fantastic, flamboyant and oversaturated while holding onto familiar botanical shapes. Juxtaposition of hard and soft along with the use of color explores gender identities and breaking the binary that exists in our current world.

His show at the Ware Center is a compilation of works pulled from various installations over the past few years and newer wall-mounted pieces he has been experimenting with.

Matty Geez graduated with his BFA in Illustration from Pennsylvania College of Art & Design in 2014. After moving to Philadelphia, his work began to take on aspects of three-dimensional art. Inspired by practical special effects of the 80s and 90s and the flamboyance of nature, his work evolved into an environment and space all its own.

Matty has exhibited at various galleries in eastern and central Pennsylvania, as well as recently working with the Lancaster City Public Arts board to facilitate community engagement with the local LGBTQIA+ community. His most recent project included a large-scale biodome or greenhouse at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. He currently lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

The gallery is free and open to the public.

Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday | 8:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. and 1 – 4 P.M.(Building hours)
