“Wild in the Shadows” by Rob Homan

On display September 4 to 25 • Regitz Gallery

Wild in the Shadows explores nature as a symbol of our lost human instinct, elevating the craft of woodcarving to fine art sculpture. The shadows created by the depth of each carving become a reminder of what remains just beneath the surface. “Our wildness is not gone,” says Homan, “only obscured.” Homan’s wood sculptures—sourced from a local sawmill—can take hundreds of hours each, using a series of small gouges that are then painted in vibrant colors, bringing their intricate textures to life.
