Sshhhhhh! …Silent Shorts
Before there were talking movies, there were silent movies that made actors like Charlie Chaplin a star in the 1920’s. This camp will pay homage to the long – gone era of silent movies. Campers will learn some of the history of silent films while creating a group project that will include writing and filming a silent movie short for presentation at the end of the week. This camp will build group skills, storytelling through a silent medium, and provide a bit of history for campers interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts.

Campers can register for morning sessions from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, afternoon sessions from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, or both! (For those staying all day, there is a supervised lunch period. Lunches must be brought to camp and will be refrigerated.) Morning and afternoon snacks are provided. Both mornings and afternoons feature a “Common Hour” in which all campers join together for a large group creative multi-disciplinary activity. On Fridays of both weeks, there are morning and afternoon performance showcases and art exhibits for families and friends featuring the campers’ work of each week. Drop-off and pick-up at the Ware Center is supervised by the staff. Registration deadline is May 17, 2024.
